30 Elephants Inc. is a Toronto based not-for-profit organization and register 501(c) charity in the U.S. that takes youth from North America to various cities and countries around the world in efforts to broaden their horizons and strengthen the global community. These trips are at no cost to the students or their families. We take students between the ages of 14-19 and only ten students per trip. The excursions strike a great balance between cultural immersion and volunteerism.
We aim to provide the youth with aspirations and inspirations beyond their own neighbourhood. We have proudly served the global community for over 12 years. Each year we add amazing and outstanding students to our herd.
For a destination to even be considered for our trips it must be safe, possess educational value, and be rich in culture. We take no more than 10 students per trip and each trip is approximately 2-3 weeks long. There are 2-3 guides and chaperones for every trip.
All costs for the trips; food, flights, activities, insurance, lodging, etcetera, are covered with the exceptions of any vaccines needed.
Prior to each excursion we hold culture classes. The classes serve the purpose of diminishing culture shock for the students and for everyone to get to know all the people they will be traveling with on the trips. In these classes students are going to learn a bit of the country’s language, about the people, history and customs. We do leadership skills training as well as team building activities. We even take the time out and learn how to make one of the country’s main food dishes. For example, the trip to Hawaii the students make Haupia (A traditional Hawaiian coconut flavored dessert). All materials for the class are provided for the students and are included. These classes are mandatory.
In addition to the classes there is a reunion/presentation that takes place approx a month after each excursion.
